Garden Hours
The Garden is open from 9am to 5pm everyday, except Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, with Garden admissions ending at 4pm. Last entry on both days will be 12pm.” This self-guided tour takes an average of about an hour and a half. The walking distance is just over a mile, round trip.
Admission for a day is $25 for adults, children ages 6 - 16 are $12. Children under 6 are free.

Boardwalk Assistance
The Garden is located in a valley which is accessed via a 500 foot long Boardwalk. To enter the Garden, Visitors walk up and down the Boardwalk, which is beautifully landscaped, and is a photographer's paradise that should not be missed. We encourage all visitors to walk, however the boardwalk is fairly steep and is not wheelchair or walker accessible. The Garden provides assistance with a golf cart to visitors with physical limitations that would prohibit them from being able to walk. All Visitors using a wheelchair or walker are required to use our service to get in and out of the Garden. Only manual wheelchairs and scooters (non-electric) are permitted into the Garden.
How To Get To The Garden
From Hilo: The Garden is located about 7 miles north of Hilo. Take Route 19.
Just after mile marker 7, turn right at large blue highway sign on the right saying "Scenic Route." About 2 miles on the left is our Vistor Center. Register inside.
From Kona: Follow Route 19 to the Hamakua Coast until you pass the 8 mile marker. Look for the blinking yellow light with sign on the right saying "Old Mamalahoa Hwy." Make the next left onto the Scenic Route. About 1.5 miles on the right is our Visitor Center. Register inside.
Driving time from Kailua, Kona is at least three hours. Please keep this in mind when planning your visit as our last entry into the Garden is at 4pm.
